Ay, there's the rub...

no one is "good enough." I don't think a single rational person ever said and truly believes they are adequate. It's our feelings of inadequacy and insecurity that let us strive for better. But if you let those feelings take charge and give up any agency for whatever reason (I know cognitive distortions like black & white thinking and generalization will be common reasons for that), that's when the problem comes in.

All I will tell you is I personally believe all men are created equal yet different. For every man that is on someone's side, there is another on the opposing. Regardless of how you think others will view you, how do you view yourself? Be honest. Give legitimate reasons to back that up. Try to make a dialect out of it. I might say "I am a monster because I raged at someone today, but worse things have happened, and a monster would not feel guilty and have apologized and been forgiven," as an example.

What are your thoughts of people talking down to you? Do these have any basis in reality or is it based on an unpleasant feeling?

"What, are you crazy?"
"It's a possibility I haven't ruled out yet,"
Thanks for this!
