Yeah, generally the copper ID is supposed to make periods heavier...but it never has mine. I had my first Paragard IUD until my daughter was 4 and we decided to try for a second baby (never happened). Finally, I decided I was too old, the risk factors that could happen with a pregnancy and to a baby were too much, got a 2nd IUD, that was just before I turned 40. Actually, my periods never did get heavier on the copper IUD, just a couple days longer. Now they are super light (TMI but I could use 1 regular pad for 24 hr or longer if I didn't change it for hygeine reasons), I suspect it's the start of perimenopause.
