I work with a military unit and guys have to stay fit. Someone mentioned a diet that interested me. Don't eat the white stuff. If it is white, don't bite. It is basically a way to reduce calories by limiting carbohydrates. No rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, no candy. Stay away from low fat because that is going to be high sugar. Dinner may consist of a chicken breast or fish and two veggies. Maybe broccoli and asparagus or Lima beans or green beans. What I discovered is what makes you hungry for your next meal, is your last meal. If you control your blood sugar, you don't get so hungry for your next meal. In 4 months, I lost 38 lbs without being hungry. And while I do like (love) the white stuff, I can honestly say I didn't crave or miss it because my blood sugar wasn't on a roller coaster. I would wake in the am, make a tall glass of water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a tablespoon of meta mucil. I wouldn't get hungry until early afternoon. When I had my annual blood work, my primary care doctor asked me to come back for an additional test. He couldn't figure out what was going on because skipping the carbs had a drastic (and positive) effect on my approach to pre diabetes numbers. My older and younger brother died after below knee amputation due to type 2. I don't want to go that route.
