I was disappointed to see the US FDA pass on approving psychedelics as a treatment option. Psilocybin, MDMA, and Ketamine have shown promise in treating depression. While Psilocybin and MDMA are approved for treatment in Australia, only Ketamine is being used off label by clinics in the US. Mental health accounts for an estimated 30% of US health care costs, so anything that might disturb the marketplace has to be very carefully considered. One problem with psilocybin is that the mushrooms can be grown in a tub in a warm dark place. While not as easy as growing tomatoes, it is just as rewarding. All the necessary ingredients are available on line and micro-dosing has become a trend in silicon valley.
