Going to my volunteer shift in about an hour and a half from now. Probably gonna be a fairly quick shift. Whoever does Thursday mornings does a good job so there’s not a whole lot to do Thursday nights. Just really let the cats out and scoop their litter and give them fresh food and water. But this particular group of cats we have now are really extremely shy and scared so none of them want to come out. So I just pet them if they let me but if not I just talk to them or give them treats. Last weeks shift only took like 40 minutes tops. Plus I have an assistant, she’s in high school. They don’t typically allow people under 18 to volunteer there but they didn’t realize she was under 18 till after they accepted her application so they made an exception for her with the caveat that an adult volunteer has to be with her the whole time any shifts she does. So that would be me. She does a good job and we work well together. It goes by a lot faster now that there’s another person in there with me. Normally for several years it was just me doing my shifts alone. It’s manageable but it is a lot of work especially if there’s a lot of cats or if there’s many small kittens that come out to play and you kinda of have to catch them and round them up to put them back in their cages before you end the shift which can be chaotic.
So yeah going to that soon here. Gotta catch the bus around 5:30pm.
I’ll try to take some pics of the cats there tonight to show you all
