MD, I see both sides of this and have no answer to your question.

On one hand, as a former small business owner, I would not have wanted to be told who I had to serve as a customer. It never came up though. In part because I'm pretty open minded and make an effort to get along with people.

On the flip side, if businesses refuse to serve certain people it opens the door to discrimination. Do we want to return to the days of refusing to serve someone because of their skin color, national origin, religion, orientation?
