Between pilates and power walking though I have gotten a lot of lean muscle, but maybe it's power walking the key vs. walking alone? Maybe since you are swinging your arms as well. I average just under 15 min. a mile. Oh, and I do planks pretty much daily. Move with Nicole (you can google it) is a fantastic pilates series (free!) on YouTube on and the best I have found. In particular, her Absolute Beginners Video is Awesome, and her Gentle Pilates Video is fantastic; it's got a challenging arm series at the end but great stretches afterwards. Her other beginnger's videos are good too but quite a bit more challenging! I love that she always ends her videos with stretching at the end. The 2 videos I mentioned run about 35 min. each.
