I was pleasantly surprised by the GI NP. She was the opposite of my prior experience with her. She was kind, listened, read through my paperwork from my family dr, did a full exam and got me set up to find out what is wrong. I have an esophagram (barium x-ray of swallowing) in a month and endoscopy and colonoscopy in 5 weeks. I'm not looking forward to any of those but they need to be done. She thinks it might be an ulcer which is what my mom, my family dr and I have all thought but if it is one it's not h. pylori.. However I've had an ulcer that wasn't h. plyori before so maybe I'm just susceptible or something. I'll know soon.

The worst part is all the time I have to go without food. The esophogram I have to fast 8 hours (one of which I'll be in the car so ugh) and then I have to do my bowel prep a little differently and will be drinking that all day the day before. So I'm not sure if that day all I get is prep or if I'll be allowed fluids with the prep. My procedure isn't until 10 AM so I'm sure I'll have been fasting some time and 10:00 is pretty late to be starving. I need to sort through all the paperwork for instructions.

Glad that this is all set up even though I do not look forward to it.
