1Day, I also like your point about how hard it is to detect lying. In fact, people who are successful liars ARE good at it. If they weren't, they couldn't succeed at it. Also, communication research shows that, because good liars are effective, it is very, very hard to detect lying. People often think they are good at identifying liars because they can read the small, nonverbal signals of their children, parents, mates, close friends. However, when dealing with people they don't know in controlled experiments, they are not as good as they thought.
