Hi steppers. Been following the thread but lacked much time or energy to pipe in. Trip was 18 days/ 17 nights of fabulous. We dodge bad weather: we saw a show in an area with a lot of tents a day before high winds; hiked Arthur's Seat a day before it had a fire. Very dry conditions in Scotland. A few minor sprinkles, lively winds, but otherwise pleasant. Prepped for much colder temps in the northern parts ... didn't happen.
The trip had 2 sections: 11 nights in Edinburgh, 5 near Findhorn EcoVillage, and 1 last night in EDI before flying out. I'll just say that the spirit of greed in terms of hotel and peer-rental fees is killing the outlaw spirit of the Fringe, and travel in Scotland in August in general. An outcrop of the success of the Festivals Month.
Fringe part: 23 events (18 plays, 2 cooking classes, 1 Gala, 1 film, and 1 poetry walk), plus iconic cultural interest of ours like the Scottish Poetry Library and getting a close view of the castle.
Findhorn part: 4 days of inhaling the Magic of Findhorn. After travel, the first day we walked the village looking at the flyers. Noticed that Friday, there was a walk into the Hinterlands, Saturday, Mary Inglis was celebrating her 80th with performances and stories, leaving Sunday for the tour. While on the wild(er) walk mentioned my one-time roommate and was directed to his unit. After the tour we knocked and he was home! After catching up he said he could give us a lift to the train when we needed to leave.
The Bday party was wonderful with loving friends of Mary (we didn't know her, or of her, but it was advertised) showering appreciation on her. Walking out of that event we bumped into a good friend from my days in New York!
To hold on to this experience I'll be composing narrated photos (not necessarily my own) and will weave in my reviews of the shows.
Only one full day to close the jet lag gap, but I made promises via email I would address some things today, so I shall.
SPG: Thanks for the rewrite of the Reiki Mantra.
D, if it might help to rehearse before going before any council or group, Direct Message me and we can arrange some practice time.
