Hello Phatlvl50,
Psychopathy is a physical condition, affecting the neurological makeup of certain parts of the brain, resulting in Dark Triad thought patterns. The most notable is a lack of empathy which drives all other behaviors. My firm belief is that empathy is actually a sixth sense, so that without it we are blind and have to divine other's feelings/sufferings etc without being connected. Narcissism, Machiavellian thought patterns etc all come from living inside this universe of one. That's my take and personal experience (charted 38 on the Hare test myself). Since Psychopathy is not listed as a DSM-5 diagnosable disease there's no direct help. They've thrown us in with the Sociopaths (a complex driven, less stable version that is driven by deep upset ingrained by abuse, neglect and abandonment) and call us all ASPD. (Anti-Social Personality Disorder) or Petulant BPD (Bi-Polar Disorder). But almost no males get diagnosed Petulant BPD showing the system is biased against us. ASPD is pretty much just a diagnosis used to facilitate law enforcement and not to help us. Basically the medical profession by and large is not interested in our lot. Why? Because while they might be able to help with childhood trauma and alleviate the worst of Sociopathy, there's nothing in their book for Psychopathy because it is literally driven by our brain structure.
Having said all that, chin up - you are on the right path. My own advise is this: Figure out whether you suffer from Psychopathy or Sociopathy. There's a lot of cross-over. If you land on Sociopathy, seek psychological help form a psychologist you find you trust and hold NOTHING back. I know that is really against our kind's instincts but it's the only way - if you are floundering and not coping with life as a Sociopath (and none do well), then outside perspective is what you need, and since it is complex driven you can recover.
If you find you are a Psychopath then my advice is look into it, buy as many books on the subject as you can, do as much online research as possible and get to know psychopathic behavioral patterns as intimately as possible.
This won't stop you thinking the way you do - but it will make you aware of what you are thinking and that gives you context. Being naturally analytical as a Psychopath allows you then to use your "lizard mind" to decide if your inclinations should be followed or resisted in any given instance, giving you a greater degree of control over destructive tendencies.
That's the best treatment I've come up with to date, so I wish you well with it, truly. Oh and I've found Ai to be helpful with the research.
Best of luck Phatlvl50, and keep well!
