I had two "American" dishwashers, both of which had hard to reach food traps, or they required the special Torx screw bit to open them, or they were fragile and easy to break.
So when I saw the Bosch in the showroom, I noticed how easy it was to access the trap. Indeed I was able to give it a slight twist and open it up right there in the showroom. I was delighted. It runs super quiet -- I have to listen carefully for it form the next room if I want to verify that I've turned it on. And it continues to run quietly and clean well, but the rinse aid container doesn't indicate when it's empty. (I don't care, I don't use the stuff.)
The DW was highly rated by Consumer Reports, which is why I looked at it. The one annoying thing is that I think I got a set of racks that weren't intended for the US market. It seems to be suited for smaller glasses and dishes. Also, there's no way to put in a baking dish along with a few dinner plates. Even though it has the most spacious interior of the three I've owned, I seem to get less into it.
