Another thing that might be of interest is Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences. Basically, he says that intelligence has traditionally been defined too narrowly. We all have different ability levels in a number of different areas:
Linguistic intelligence ("word smart"):
Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")
Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")
Musical intelligence ("music smart")
Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")
