yes, kind of sad really about what happened with the EV-1, it was a great concept, if it had been properly developed, the long range Litium-Ion batteries would have already been ready by now.

You may have heard of the Tesla Roadster, a heavily modified Lotus Elise, that runs entirely on Lithium Ion batteries, it can go from zero to sixty in just over 4 seconds and 250 miles on a single charge

Google: Tesla Motors and the web site should come right up.

You are right about what happened during the Carter Adminstration, the idea to develop alternate energy (the only decent thing that Jimmy managed to get out there) should have been pursued, we would all be a lot further along than we are now.

In addition to the Honda's Clarity, Chevrolet is testing a fleet of Hydogen Powered Equinox SUVs, also very promising.

Next year GM is set to release the Volt,a reversed Hybrid, in other words an electric car that is kept charged by a tiny gas engine (expected EPA 80-95Mpg)

All of the Clarity's clients will be there in CA, so you may actually get to see one of these live and in person. Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband are among the first customers.
