Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for my family..... my son has been told and he is heart broken, as was expected.

Now - to decide if my son should be told that Snu was hit by a car - or to let it be that he passed of old age.

This is hard decision for me (us) as my husband and I have never lied to our children and we would hate to start now..... and yet it breaks my heart as a mom to have to tell my son how his dog last breath was taken... not to mention that my son is already under a lot of stress - going to school full time, financial issues at school & home, expecting a baby in two weeks and working part time while in school.

What do you think?
.. save him from more heart break or tell him the truth?

BTW - my son has not asked how Snu died, and since the family did not offer any more info than what was asked my son is just assuming that is was old age that took Snu, as he was 14 years old.

My youngest son buried what parts we found on the street of the dog so his brother would not see it when he came to our house... I could not leave what was left of Snu in the street, I just couldn't.
