has he been diagnosed with OCD?
or some other issue?
maybe his MD could prescribe something to calm this activity down in the brain and if he wants to get better, seeing a therapist to work out behavioral issues would help also.
meanwhile, try a bookstore, look in the help or psychology section, or check the reading lists here, and buy one that describes the relationship your H. has with the world and those in it, and you may be able to guide him to take care of it.
it does sound more than just being controlling, as, in general.
sorry for the problems, and your worries. it isn't fun for you. hope you can take advantage of good information and put it into practice to protect yourself, and maybe one day, learn to humor these days - not now - I know, it's serious.
