If the meds aren't working, tell your doc & he/she should be working with you to find the right dosages & combos. It took me a year of trial & error to find what worked (most of the time; meds aren't fool proof, as I found out after 5 years of stability & then I went manic). I wouldn't be experimenting with the dosages myself. If the drug is not working at the dosage the doc prescribed, let him figure out if it should be increased or changed to something else.
