Are you on any meds? Some can cause/exacerbate night eating.
I sometimes wake and have indigestion or feel I'm hungry and will eat something like yogurt or a slice of plain toast. It's usually enough to make me feel better/cared for by me and I can get back to sleep.
Have you tried waking yourself up further and paying attention to what you are doing? Maybe it is hard to stop the night eating but you could substitute more healthful foods?
