I'm not taking it but my PNP told me she likes it a lot and is prescribing it. It is more similar to Adderall than Concerta/methylphenidite. If you have been on Adderall and done well, this would probably work well for you too. Vyvanse is amphetamine linked to an amino acid. It is not active until the amino acid has been cleaved off in the body. It takes a while for the body to do this, so the drug is released more slowly--kind of an extended release version of Adderall that is kinder, gentler. It is less prone to abuse. But some people do better on Adderall XR because Adderall is actually a mixture of two different types of amphetamine (chemical mirror images of each other), whereas Vyvanse, once the amino acid is cleaved off, is one type amphetamine only.
If Vyvanse were not available, a similar switch by your doc would be from Concerta to Adderall. Was Concerta not working well for you?
I hope you can talk to your doc about worries about the warnings.
