I think I'd like to have a nice apartment somewhere in a smallish city... Not too bustling so people are fairly laid back and friendly, but big enough for decent public transport... Somewhere like Melbourne but with better weather :-) ... I'd like to be able to wake up at some reasonable hour in the morning (all refreshed) go downstairs to some nice cafe with excellent coffee and check my email... Be able to watch people walking by... Write for a couple hours... Then jump on a tram or something to head into work... Nice office someplace... Friendly department, nice students... That would be good :-)

Light teaching load... Maybe 2 classes per semester. One undergraduate and one graduate... Nice conference attendance budget :-) Enough time (and motivation) to work on my research...

So... Money to get an appartment... Find the city with the nice weather... Find a job in the nice city with the nice weather... Find the motivation to actually write instead of spending most of every day on my emails... Find some regular sleep schedule where I actually can wake up at a reasonable hour. Really... I don't want much :-) Oh... A nice local pub would help things along, too :-)

That would be my perfect life, I think.
