I had the laparoscopic procedure done outpatient, staying overnight just for observation.
I felt wonderful the very next day, just a bit tired from the anesthesia that first day after the surgery.
The very small incisions they made for the scopes were sore for a few weeks.
I was advised to continue to avoid greasy, fried, fatty foods for a while after the surgery until my body adjusted.

My surgeon told me that when he had his out, also laparscopically, he came into the office the next day for something, began gathering or reviewing some records, ended up staying and working and resumed his schedule right then. So he took only a morning off afterwards. That was very encouraging for me to hear.

The open procedure takes longer to heal, about 6 weeks, because of the size of the incision. I hope you are somehow able to have the laparascopic procedure but if not, you'll be in good hands with trustworthy medical personnel and you will recover in time.
