Unfortunatly not anytime soon, I wish I could be more optimistic but its looking grim. I feel great sorrow for the inocent people on all sides of this conflict.

The ongoing struggle there is indicative of a much larger struggle worldwide. One that pits the idea of self-determination against the complete surrender of the individual to a collective mindset.

Usually peace always comes at the price of one side or the other winning in absolute terms. Look at some past conflicts:

WW2, Germany was literally laid to waste, the Nazi regime, destroyed
Japan, feared absolute destruction at the hands of our atomic bombs
Vietnam, We left, the NVA overan the South and conquered the country.
Bosnia, peace restored after the serbian nationlist were crushed by NATO

and it goes on and on,

It would be a wonderful world if we truly could simply negotiate peace and comprimise but that is rare event indeed.
