Farve’s leadership has definitely helped the team in the past, but it sounds very much like he felt that gave him carte blanche to decide who was hired and fired. These are his own words. Whatever was he thinking slinging mud at Thompson? Especially since he said that these decisions had nothing to do with his decision for early retirement; it only spoke to the lack of trust he has in Thompson.
Locally, these interviews have done more harm than good. Prior to this fiasco, he had the persona of being a country boy that just liked to play football; the boy next door that got his shot and ran with it. Now he’s gotten too big for his britches. I truly understand now what the organization was saying when they told him they wanted to protect the legacy of Bret Farve.
I say KUDOS to the team for supporting Aaron Rodgers! Now to get the fans on board! You and I both know that the first mistake the man makes you’re going to hear “Farve would have done … we would have won that game with Farve.” Although inevitable it’ll be worse now that “we could have had him back.” 10 more days till training camp!
