I had about 5 sessions with my T...and i absolutely think shes great...she just fits youknow? but im off to college the 20th of August and i would really like to have a therapist there, cause i know the stress's of it all will most likely overtake me and worry me to bits...but id starting over with someone just seems like putting what ive done with my T, to waste. Plus id need to start all over...idk if i do start over, thats fine....but when i come home...would it be appropriate to start up again with my T i have now? or should i just drop her completely....again, i really like her and she seems to overall understand me...thats not saying much since ive only known her for 5 hours....
-thanks for reading that marathon of a post

Hi sarahx,
If you are on your parent's insurance plan, see a private therapist by looking through the phone book (unless your therapist knows someone in the area that they recommend).
If you go to Student Counseling/Student Health on campus, you will more than likely get a substandard therapist (some exceptions of course). They usually have limits on how many sessions and the types of issues, and often they try to get you an appointment with a graduate student in training for psychology, which means they won't have the training.
Ask your therapist first if he/she knows anyone in the area. Otherwise, I would go to the American Psychology Association nationwide/statewide listing of psychologists. When you select a psychologist from the listings, put their license number or name in the online state database to see if they have any violations against them. If they are clean, call them up. Make sure your parents insurance will cover the visit.
It's always okay to see your therapist when you are living at home. It's not really stressful if you use a search engine on the internet to find the webpages you need. I'd look up the links myself but I'm too tired and going to bed. Goodluck-
