One thing that can really good for you is that being seen by someone either on-campus, or referred off-campus, is that those people (presumably) will be specialists (in practical terms) in dealing with people your age with all that means in terms of family/parent situation, being on your own, starting college, etc. Out here in the non-campus world, most of us don’t run into people who have particular experience with our “type,” so to speak.
As far as what to do with the T you've been seeing, etc.....see what everyone thinks. Your old T or the new T that you get might differ on the issue, surely months down the road you'll know better what you want.
It's great that you're thinking ahead. I'd get to it right away when you get there because there probably will be a rush of others in the same situation.
