For emergency situations I'm sure you don't need to provide 30 days notice (maybe for elective procedures).

Sometimes when we don't feel well, our ability to gauge other's responses to us is altered and we misperceive them. Sooo..if your doc will support it take your FMLA. It will give you time to heal and think.
