I'm going through this right now (finding a new T). I looked in the phone book to see if anyone listed my issues as a specialty, which they did. Then a friend and I, over the phone, did some searching on the internet. It took a little while but I found a couple T who sounded like they could be a good match. I was able to email both of them and ask if they could help me deal with all the issues (diagnoses) I have. I didn't want to waste time with an appointment if they couldn't help me from the get go.

I'm still afraid of being labeled a freak. I have my 3rd appointment in a weeks time with a third T. I feel crazy for having all these appointments (and disloyal somehow too - not sure what that's about) but I'm not going to just take the next person who walks through the door. I want to feel comfortable with my T, like I can really do some productive, progressive work with them.

Anyway, try the phone book and internet. Psychology Today has a website that lists some T.

Like a kind friend did for me, I will pray for you, that you will find a good match. Good luck.

"What is Real? asked the Velveteen Rabbit one day.

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."
