I've finally calmed down. We are 5 miles south from the epicenter. There were things fallen from shelves in every room, but less damage than it first appeared. A few glass and ceramic things broke. I don't see any structural damage.

I've been listening to the news and every person interviewed said this is the worst quake they've felt. Some said it was worse than the Northridge quake.

I usually just ride them out, but this one built quite fast and severe, so I was running to get out the front door. One cat is following me around and the other hasn't come out from under the bed.

p.s. Irvine is about 10 miles southwest from here, also in Orange County.
