I've had excellent luck with 20 Mule Team Borax. It comes in a green and yellow box, and is in the laundry aisle of the supermarket. You sprinkle in into carpeting, sofas, etc. and work it in with a clean (basically new, never been used) broom or brush of some kind. When done working in, vacuum it up. The borax dehydrates the little buggeronis, killing them dead, kaput, kapow, kerbluey. I only had to do this once a year! It worked better for me than when we had the house fumigated, with a big tent over all of it.
