I saw my therapist from 1978 to 1987 and then again from 1996 to 2005 (notice the 9 years on, 9 years off, 9 years on again pattern :-) and we both retired in 2005. I told her though a couple months before that I was going to have to start therapy again with someone in 2014 (I'll be 64 :-)
My T and I started the termination process in 2003 I think, that Fall (terminated at end of June 2005, my T just let her license lapse) and as "horrible" as it was, it was also pretty helpful. You'd be surprised how much more you can get out of therapy when you know there's a finish line!
