Hi Violet,

Although I am not gay, I have many family members who are, including my daughter

Coming to grips with your sexual orientation, especially if it is not the "acceptable" one, is very difficult. I know both my daughter and my brother struggled in the beginning. My brother though is now in his early 40's and has by now come to understand and even embrace his orientation.

My daughter though, says that if gay or straight were "really" a choice, she probably would have chosen straight. And I am sure you can see why.... I think it is because she sees it as "easier".

But you are who you are, and finding someone to love and happily grow old with is difficult, for everyone. Made especially so (I think) for GLBT, because of the smaller numbers and the attitude of some very vocal members of our society.

But remember, every good relationship will take work to make it a great relationship. So when your work to finally find that special someone pays off, don't forget to keep working to keep the relationship strong.

By the way.........I am happy you are here too. Welcome
