(((((((((Rose)))))))))))) I heard about this earlier. Very shocking.
I think the person probably has a severe mental illness (maybe we'll find out as the public, but psych exam happens soon for this man) that wasn't being treated. Some people slip through the cracks and can have severe issues that are never treated. Maybe he was set off. Maybe drugs or alcohol was a factor. We just don't know at this point.
I don't think anyone could have prevented this... not like this sort of thing happens regularly. I honestly think that it was unprovoked, and that even with a police officer or some sort of other person on the bus at the time... the violence still would have happened, but *MAYBE* the victim wouldn't have died. We'll never really know.
The perpetrator if found guilty (I'm going to assume he will be, with eyewitness stuff and who knows what else) ... either jail time or if found mentally incapable of standing trial... psych hospital/prison for as long as needed to understand the crime committed and stand trial... if that ever happens.
I've taken forensic psychology and abnormal psychology and criminal behaviour ... and I think this person seriously has some issues, but doubtful that anything could be done to stop him, and doubtful if something like this would happen again if released.
Just my opinions anyways.
