Yep, I understand what it's like to have your family not understand. My dad thinks that my depression can be solved by 'positive thinking' alone. i haven't told any other members of my family about my depression, because they would not understand, and my dad doesn't know the whole story of it, just that i feel depressed 'sometimes' (when in fact depression is making my whole life difficult in terms of motivation to do stuff, etc). So yeah, it is hard to have to hide things from family, and to know they don't understand. But then, if they did fully understand and support you, you might then rely on them too much and not have the willpower to get better independently of them.
