To make you feel a little better I wanted to tell you about a guy I know of. He SI'd while he was in the military, very badly and was discharged as a result. He was hospitalized and eventually he was able to return to normal life. He then proceeded to become a Sheriff. So if he could become a sheriff I see no reason you could not get a staff position at the sheriff's department. They will probably just want to make sure you are continuing to do the neccessary things to keep yourself well. Such as seeing your counselor and pdoc.
