For all the things you were
For all the things you weren't
When life handed you lemons
You ate them for dessert
You tried in vain to find your place
At times the world was cruel
But smile and laugh you did a lot
Through the dance and the duel
Before you passed we spent 3 days
Talking of present and past
Driving along the Maine shore line
With memories steadfast
I'm sorry I forgot to bring
The picture of your new grandson
You never saw his angelic face
Before your time was done
I hope you know no matter what
I loved you very much
Through difficulties and good times
I appreciated your gentle touch
Rest well dear father
From up above
Watch over me please
And when needed give me a gentle shove
This may not be your typical loving poem to a loving parent lost.....but Dad was the kind of guy who tried hard to lighten things up as best he could. So, in honor of his lightheartedness and his love of making people smile, I wrote this.......between the tears that are falling.

Thank you can never be said enough!
