I use a transdermal medication called emsam for my AD and think I am allergic to the sticky that sticks it to my skin. My reasoning is because I am broke out all over my body. I have used patch meds before and I break out when I use them. I am hestiant to change AD's because other than the breaking out I am doing great on the emsam. I am functioning pretty good. Yes I still have my days but then again doesn't everyone? But my bad days are further and further apart. The bad days also aren't as severe as they used to be. So I really don't want to switch unless I just can't handle the rash any longer.
I have been taking Benadryl for the rash but it doesn't seem to be helping. I called my pdoc to see if they had heard of anything because my pdoc has several patients on the emsam and he said he had heard of putting olive oil on the spot and rubbing most of it off so that it still adheres to the spot. So I tried that but I still got the rash.
So do any of you get rashes from transdermal medications?
