Good luck with your new therapist, okie. You are brave to try a male, when you have so many reservations due to your past experience. When I first went to a therapist almost 3 years ago, I went to a woman. I felt unable to go to a man because of my experience with a man who had betrayed my trust and treated me poorly for years. So I went to a woman, who was fine, but later changed to a man for other reasons (his expertise was what I needed). I was apprehensive about going to see a male T but it has turned out to be really, really healing. He's been helpful to me in many ways, but to have a male basically be nice to me, respectful of me, and warm and caring has just been so healing. It's like by his actions he has made me not so gunshy of men... Best of luck to you. I hope you will let us know how it goes.
