Tracy - The pill that you were taking was probably Luvox™ (fluvoxamine). They are white and were around in 1995; at least in Canada. Also, Luvox can cause manic episodes, in rare cases. More likely, what you experienced was an increase in anxiety that is a common start-up side effect of most SSRIs. This usually does disappear within the first month of taking the drug, though (as your body adjusts to the drug). Luvox is the only SSRI that is a white tablet. the 50mg tablet is round and the 100mg tablet is oval in shape. Manerix™ (moclobemide) is a dull yellow to ecru coloured oval tablet, though. both Luvox and Manerix are taken twice daily.

I do not think that Effexor™ (venlafaxine) was around in 1995 (maybe it was); and besides regular Effexor is a salmon-colored pentagonally shaped tablet, while the XR version (released in 1997 or 1998) is a capsule. The regular tablet is taken three times daily, while the XR capsule is taken once daily.

Zoloft™ (setraline) is only available in capsule form in Canada, but I do believe that there is a tablet form in Europe. All Zoloft is taken only once daily.

I hope that this is of some help. - Cam
