Catnip seems like it is almost a cats version of marijuana. Some cats like catnip, some dont, some humans like marijuana, some dont.
Every cat I ever had looooved catnip, and they would eat it! I was like, eww your not supposed to eat it, your supposed to sniff it! They act like there is aliens in the house when we give them catnip, then totally mellow out.
