I think you are doing a great job recognizing that when you are hurting it comes out in anger.....now that you know that, you can begin to figure out how to express it in ways that are not harmful to you or others. Thats a wonderful big step to take!
It is not unusual for folks to react to pain by showing anger. It is something we learn to do to hide our true feelings and to keep others at a distance. We don't want others to think we are vulnerable because that may bring on more pain. Most times when we are feeling pain is when we most need someone to help us through it. It's a scary thing to let someone that close sometimes isn't it?
Does it help to know that I tend to do the same thing when I'm in pain? I get angry and I push people away. Then I kick myself for being such a dope. Wow, what a cycle eh? No, you are not alone hon. Many understand that cycle.
