I use music as well to help maintain some resemblance of control, Though some times it does back fire on me. I some times too find just going for a walk while listening helps, esp. if I am in a exceptionally down mood. Though it is difficult at times to force myself to do that.
I will also watch a good movie, one where the hero has had the snot kicked out of them, and they rebound to save the day. While I realize it is just a movie, I put myself in the hero's shoes. Some times that helps me when I am extremely down and angery.
One last trick I used to be able to do when I was actually able to still work and worked as a cook, I would walk into the walkin freezer, close the door and just yell at the top of my lungs.
