Eva,

I understand all to well about the insurance system and how they work. That is what I do for a living. I find it completly unacceptable (to say the least) how the insurance companies make theor medical policies to cut cost. That is the bottom line. Cutting costs at the patients/members expense.
The cost of healthcare is rising yearly but the quality of care for patients is getting lower every year. Patients like to balme the doctors for this but that is not the problem. The doctors collect a small fee for every service they perform. The doctors never receive 100% of the charge. They barely receive 30 -40 %. The insurance companies pocket this money. The big wigs at the insurance companies are the ones who pocket your premiums. We pay so much for healthcare these days but we don't get half the care we deserve.
I think that it would be easier to treat a problem, or preventive care, rather then wait until the problem gets out of control and the cost of treatment is outragious. The insurance companies dont see it that way. They want to set limitations on the individuals policy so their "out of pocket" expense is very low. Another reason healthcare is so darn expensive it because , well let me explain it this way.......
Pretend there is an employer who employs 100 people and all 100 people receive the health insurance at this job. All 100 people pay premiums every months. that money from all the employees go's into a "pot". While the money sits in that pot the insurance company earns interest off of that money. Once an employee seeks medical services the payment comes out of that pot. Now, some people are healthier then others so they dont go to the DR as much. But for those that receive medical care routinely are constantly taking the money out of the pot until there is no money left. This leave a definciency in the pot, so when the next benefit year comes around, the cost of your premiums go's up.
OK OK OK

Im off topic I know.

What I wanted to say, is i understand. Totally. It is so frustrating for people who really need help. Maybe you could try your local social services to see what kind of programs they can offer you at a reduced or fee rate. I am so sorry your going through this, it is the last thing you need right now.
I had a similar problem late last year and I know how horrible it can be.
Please take care of your self and check out Social Services in your area. They really do have wonderful programs.

Luv,

Jen
