Just HOW did you break a dishwasher? I mean, what has to be fixed on it? I can't imagine the whole thing needing to be replaced as you can replace knobs, doors... and what else is there that you could have hit? I think you can just tell the landlord not to bother since you can do without it and take care of it whenever you move out. In the meantime, find a service guy to check it out for free maybe? And get a real analysis of what's wrong with it.
