this is my experience with marriage counseling -

if you are looking for a 'Dr. Phil' experience..... forget about it. I have yet to meet a candid therapist. The therapist is going to mediate and (IMHO) tell you what you already know, but maybe can't admit to yourself.

they might give you ideas on how to better manage difficult situations - but ultimately will leave whether you decide to impliment the steps they give you to yourselves.

It could be hard to find a therapist that works for both of you right off. it might take one or two. my wife and i went to a lady she had know and gone to for a while, but in going i found she took to my wife and made it very hard for me to get my point accross - or anything accross for that matter. that was pretty rough. the one we have now likes to talk in circles it seems and i feel at the end of the session we leave with nothing more than what we arrived with.

my advice - talk around and see what some people say. finding a good therpist is much like putting your car in the shop. if you like your car you're not going to dump it with just any old mechanic - unles you have no choice.
