the big issue with coffee makers is the waters brewing temperature and its consistency of performance.
the mr coffee machines tend to brew a little bit colder than some of the fanciers models and thus don't get all of the delicious oils out of the roasted ground beans.
i suspect that this isn't a big deal for most people using inexpensive coffee blends. it would be hard to tell the difference there.
however if your coffees are fancy then if you waste flavor you also waste money.

coffee is my severest vice since i can't drink with my meds. i drink too much coffee and got to watch out for GIRD and when it happens i take prilosec.
i am ashamed to say i know too much about this subject. :P
