SSRI's can blunt the emotions (it's why one "feels better"). So it could be something like that.

Or it could be a defense, a long-standing "I don't care" defense, a protection against being hurt or a protection against overwhelming emotion.

Definitely something to think about to see if you can find the answer to your "why".
