I'm very happy for you and hope her attempt to explain helped some. It is not too often that parents seem to do things like that. My mom could have never done that and she even died rather early - at 62 - and there were huge problems left between us when she did die.

It truly sounds to me like a major part of your troubles at home may have been based on misunderstanding and difficultie in communicating.

I've always thought it was too bad that children don't arrive with a manual - like a new car - that helps explain their needs and what it will take for them to be well-cared for. Parents do not just mystically know what to do and say to their children. Sad, but true.

Hug this beautiful moment to your heart and keep it there as a reminder when stress comes that your mom is not your enemy and she's not out to get you. I'm happy for you.
