I have anxiety attacks like that sometimes. (((((((((((((((((((purple)))))))))))))))))) They are SO scary.

My T and I have worked to find some things to help ground me. These may not work for you, but just to give you some ideas:

Watching TV - something mindless
Holding a cold drink or a piece of ice in my hand or running my hand in cool water and FEELING the feeling of cold
Knitting (!) or coloring in my mandala coloring book - slow and soothing
Talking to another person

For me, unless I am actually in the room WITH T, I can't try slowing down my breathing or anything - focusing on it makes it worse. But grounding activities do help sometimes. They at least lessen it.

Do you have any grounding activities that work for you? Maybe we can try to figure some out that you can try next time.
