I think I'm getting it!!!

So "affect" is mostly used when discussion emotional stuff of some kind...almost a feeling and definitely associated with feeling? Now that would be the average use of the word only, I guess.

"Effect" is a result of something?

For instance in the example that Echoes used, the mother had a feeling-type response and, because of that, the "result" of that response could be joyous?

Am I getting close at all???

Wow, I just figured I'd never be able to get this one and maybe I'm getting a bit close?
