I didn't water mine enough but they tasted okay, the two plants just died early. I have a a "volunteer" plant from last year that is looking good; it showed up in my weed pile so is surrounded by cool, damper, dead vegetation up to its knees :-)

I had a cantaloupe plant and it only produced one cantaloupe and that was exciting but then extremely disappointing as it was tasteless. My dirt is just topsoil though; I had the landscaper make the little raised garden for me last year when they were doing all the other stuff and they just used "dirt" instead of mixing it and making it nice for a garden. Now it's hard as rock and I'm going to take everything out in a month or so and redig it and integrate some good soil, etc.
